Candide, the misadventures of Voltaire’s classic hero, comes to stage at 8 p.m., Saturday, June 6 at Cañada College Main Theatre, 4200 Farm Hill Blvd. Redwood City.
Filled with memorable songs like "Glitter and Be Gay" and "Make Your Garden Grow,” the Leonard Bernstein operetta will be performed by the
Redwood Symphony and
Peninsula Cantare with full orchestra and cast.
Nicholas Bayne plays Candide with Elisabeth Russ as Cunegone and Ken Malucelli as Pangloss. Other cast members include Daniel Deliz, Megham Dibble, Cole Grissom, Brett Ruona and Todd Schurk.
Conducting the Redwood Symphony is Eric Kujawsky and Jan Gunderson directs the Peninsula Cantare.
Staging director Ken Malucelli will present a pre-concert lecture at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children under 16 and students with ID.
Children 12 with adult, faculty, students and Cañada College are admitted free.
