Some of the most romantic music ever written comes to the West Bay Opera stage in the bohemian love story of Puccini’s La bohème on Friday, October 16, closing Sunday October 25.
Audiences can see the inspiration for the popular musical Rent at the Lucie Stern Theater, 1305 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto, CA.
Set in early 20th century Paris, the fully-staged opera will be sung in Italian with English subtitles. Bryan Nies is the conductor and Jimmy Smith directs Carrie Hennessey as Mimi, Pedro Betancourt as Rodolfo, Ani Maldjian as Musetta, David Hodgson as Marcello, John Bischoff as Colline, Teagan Moore as Schaunard, Eric Coyne as Benoit, and James Stahlman as Parpighnol. They will be joined by the West Bay Opera orchestra and chorus.
Performances are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. with 2 p.m. matinees on Sunday. Tickets are $30 to $55 and group discounts are available.
