He teaches school orchestra in San Carlos and summer fiddle intensives on the East Coast, and composes music ranging from traditional through jazz and classical. He coaches the Bay Area Peninsula Scottish Fiddlers and toured Scotland with them in October 2008.

Shauna Pickett-Gordon, founder of the Peninsula Scottish Fiddlers, has accompanied many of the great Scottish fiddlers in North America, including Alasdair Fraser, John Turner, Laura Risk, Calum MacKinnon, John Taylor, and Bonnie Rideout. She also composes music in many styles, and enjoys accompanying silent movies.

The Peat Fire Flame duo co-directs the Peninsula Scottish Fiddlers, conduct workshops in Scottish traditional music for string players, and play for Scottish country dancing.
