Ten benefits to breastfeeding:

 

  1. Breastfeeding is natural and healthy for both moms and babies.
  2. Breast fed babies have a lower risk of infections like diarrhea, ear infections, respiratory infections, and chronic diseases such as diabetes, childhood leukemia, asthma, obesity,and even sudden infant death syndrome than formula fed babies.
  3. Mothers who breast feed have lower risk of breast and ovarian cancer, type 2 diabetes,and post par tum depression.
  4. Breast feeding is environmentally friendly
  5. Breast milk is digested easier to digest than formula made from cow’s milk.
  6. Premature babies do better when breastfed compared to premature babies who are formula fed.
  7. Breast feeding can save up to $4000 dollars a year, depending on formula of choice.
  8. With breast feeding there are no bottles to sterilize or prepare, and there is no chance of contamination.
  9. Breastfeeding lowers health care costs. breastfed infants typically need fewer sick care visits, prescriptions, and hospitalizations.
  10. In cases of an emergency, such as a hurricane,flood, or disaster, breastfeeding can save lives.
