Heart disease can be a silent killer. As seen with the recent death of Billy Mays heart trouble can go unnoticed and have very few symptoms. Sometimes a person has no symptoms at all. It is important to have regular checkups with a medical professional. Other symptoms go unnoticed. Men and Woman have different symptoms, therefore if there is any question one should consult with their doctor. One of the leading causes of deaths for both men and women is a heart attack which claims roughly 550,000 people each year in the U.S.
There are obvious symptoms that are common knowledge of a heart problem known as a heart attack are chest pain, shortness of breath, and a rapid heart rate. Other commons symptoms of a heart attack are pain anywhere in the upper body including head, neck, back, jaw, stomach, and arms, sweating, and increased anxious feelings. If any of these symptoms occur one should seek medical attention immediately.
However, at times there are symptoms of heart disease that appear before the crisis event and should be discussed with your doctor for possible treatment. Rapid weight gain, progressive swelling or pain in the abdomen, increased swelling of the legs or ankles, loss of appetite/nausea, increased fatigue, or a worsening cough can all be a symptom of heart trouble, and should be discussed with a medical professional.
