With the Nationwide Series heading to Texas Motor Speedway this weekend for Saturday's O'Reilly Challenge, things don't look good for Kyle Busch's fellow competitors.
After all, Busch has won the last three Nationwide Series races held in the Lone Star State. Even so, despite a 215-point lead over second-place driver Carl Edwards heading into the final three races of the season, Busch can't clinch the 2009 Nationwide Series title in Texas as long as Edwards starts the race.
"We're going to Texas trying to get four in a row and looking forward to that, seeing if we can achieve that feat. We know it's going to be tough," Busch said.
Edwards and third-place driver Brad Keselowski are holding on to that glimmer of hope that anything can happen regarding the championship hunt, but it would take a virtual miracle, given Busch's sizable lead and his recent dominance of Texas Motor Speedway.
The closer battle for a spot up for grabs in the Nationwide Series is the fight for fifth. Rookie Justin Allgaier currently lays claim on the position, but Mike Bliss who has been playing musical chairs between rides throughout the second-half of the season is only 59 points back in sixth.
This weekend Bliss will be in the No.11, a ride he hasn't finished outside the top-five in. In his three starts in the No. 11 car, Bliss has had two runner-up showings and a fourth.
Television coverage for Saturday's O'Reilly Challenge is slated for a 12:00 p.m. ET start on ESPN2.
