Cop drama finds new home, less censors
Just over a month after being canceled unceremoniously by NBC, the gritty cop drama "Southland" has found a new home at TNT. According to Variety, the network will air the first seven episodes that were originally aired by NBC as well as the six eps of the second season that were shot before they were given pink slips.
"Southland" will begin airing on Tuesday nights at 9:00 CST in January 2010. TNT will decide whether or not to order more episodes after they see how well the show fairs.
"After the first few weeks, we'll know", said TNT programming head honcho Michael Wright about the possibility of additional episodes. "We won't belabor it... We enjoy a good relationship with talent. The last thing we want to do is abuse that."
But wait, there's more....according to Wright, since the show will have be allowed more air time than was given at NBC, expect to see some additional "never before seen" footage added to the original seven first season episodes. Another freedom that will come with its new home is less censorship, meaning a few of the expletives will avoid the sensor "bleep".
