Writer's can benefit from book clubs in more ways than one. Not only do you get to hang out with people who love books as much as you do, but you can find out what people are reading, what they like, and why.
So where does a writer find a book club in Las Vegas? Quite a few meet at libraries thoughout the Clark County Library System. Here are just a few of the groups available free to the public.
Centennial Hills Readers Circle - Book discussion group for adults who love to read and want to share their reading experiences with others. Light refreshments served. Meets at the Centennial Hills Library at 10:30 AM on the first Tuesday of the month.
Mahogany Circle Book Club - Book discussion group featuring African American authors and topics. Book selections and meeting schedule subject to change. Please call 507-3458 for updates. Meets at the Clark County Library
Contemporary Fiction Book Club – A discussion group for adults. Takes a break during the summer and picks back up in September. Meets at the Clark County Library at 7:00 PM on the third Tuesday of the month.
SNAFFU Science Fiction Book Club - Discussion group explores the latest science fiction and fantasy titles, movies and documentaries, guest speakers, and fansite activities. Meets at the Clark County Library at 2:00 PM on the fourth Sunday of the month. For more information, please call 507-3458
The Forbidden Book Club – A group for adults, seniors and teens. If you like to talk about counter-culture, vampires, revolutionaries, pirates, the Anti-Christ, aliens, cannibalism, anti-establishmentarianism, zombies, drug-induced literature, Chuthulu, deviant behaviors and the Apocalypse (before and after) then come and join others who won't look at you too strangely... and we can discuss this month's book title. Murder in the Library – An adult discussion group. Meets at the Sahara West Library at 7:00 PM on the second Tuesday of the month.
Desert Hearts Romance Readers Book Club – A new group for adults and seniors starting September 2009. Mrs. Linda Cutler-Smith hosts the first romance and related women's fiction book club meeting. There will be various author visits, as well as free book give-a-ways throughout the year! This book club will keep your heart beating for more!
