Real Madrid Restaurant makes the claim "Exquisite cuisine from the heart of Spain.” The restaurant offers what is quite possibly the best Spanish cooking in Staten Island, even though Carmen’s might give them an argument. Real Madrid has been a long time fixture on a stretch of Forest Avenue not far from La Riviera Ristorante. The surrounding area formerly was run down and unappealing, but in recent years has undergone an impressive renewal, with many new edifices and businesses. Seafood is the specialty here, although the extensive menu has a variety of offerings. There is a reasonably lengthy wine list that includes Spanish, international and domestic reds and whites. Their version of sangria is excellent.

Lobsters are featured. There is a daily “Lobster Festival” with either one 1 ¼ pound live whole lobster for $18.95, or two as a “Daily Double” for $29.95. Two to four pound lobsters are available ranging from $29.95 to $48.95. Among the appetizers, grilled Shrimp Plancha, mussels Real Madrid in a red sauce or a green sauce, or Shrimp Ajillo in a garlic sauce stand out. Many of the appetizers are available as entrée portions as well. The long list of entrees is led by Paella Valenciana, with rice, chicken, sausage, shrimp, scallops and mussels for $17.95. Lobster may be added as well for an extra $3.00 charge. The portion is gigantic, however a single order can be split for two for an additional $5.50. There are a variety of other seafood and meat entrees offered. Combination dishes such as steak and lobster, chicken and lobster, steak and chicken, Alaskan King crabs and shrimp, or a cold seafood platter are available. All main dishes are served with a choice of soup or salad, rice, fried potatoes and fresh vegetable.

Banquet room

A children’s menu with a choice of fried shrimp, chicken or veal parmigiana served with linguini and a soda is offered for $10.95. There is a shorter menu of reasonably priced luncheon specials served from 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with dishes from $8.95 to $11.95. As to dinner prices, appetizers range from $9.95 to $17.95, entrees from $13.95 to $35.95, and combination dishes from $20.95 to $26.95. In addition to the main dining room and a smaller dining area adjacent to the bar, there is a large banquet room that will accommodate up to 120 diners.
