- Michael Jackson immortalized in art: Michal Jackson died this week which is an extremely unfortunate event. Like most everybody on the planet, his music and dancing and videos were a very big part of my life and he will be greatly missed. The LA Times have a pretty good photo slide show of artwork based on MJ.
- WOW!: Artists, in all fields of art, are for the most part a bunch of nerds. What makes artists nerds different than other nerds however, is that because artists have artistic talent they can use that to hide their nerdiness. The Laguna Museum of Art is having an exhibition of art from World of Warcraft. I guess we're not really hiding it anymore. This is simultaneously a sad moment for trying to be cool and great moment for being honest.
- Everybody Plays World of Warcraft: Including NBA forward/center Channing Frye.
- EVERYBODY: Including terrorists. Which seems odd really. Given the generally austere lifestyles of religious extremists you'd think that WOW would be on some kind of banned list. You'd think that and then you'd be wrong.
- Intrigue at OCMA: Apparently OCMA is doing something real sneaky. I used to work here so this news isn't too surprising.
- "How Choque Makes a Poster": A prety cool article and video of the artist Choque making a poster old school style.
- Farrah Fawcet at LACMA: Farrah Fawcet was an icon and a pretty legendary figure in her own right. She ain't no Michael Jackson though. It is kind of a shame that her passing i being kind of regarded a footnote, but such is the fate of anybody with the misfortune of having to steal headlines from Michael Jackson. This is a pretty interesting story about her short lived career as a sculpter which included a show at LACMA.
- Korin Faught Interview: An interview with artist Korin Faught who is having a show opening this week at Corey Helford. She's kind of a looker.
