On Friday, the aunt and caretaker of missing Hassani Campbell, 5, were arrested on suspicion of murder. According to reports, Jennifer Campbell, 33, is scheduled to be released from jail on Monday, while her fiancé, 38-year-old Louis Ross remains in custody.
Hassani, who has cerebral palsy, went missing three weeks ago today and was last seen with Ross, who claimed the boy disappeared when he left him alone briefly in a shoe store parking lot.
Alameda County Assistant District Attorney Tom Rogers said that no charges will be filed against Jennifer because there was “insufficient evidence” against her.
Prosecutors have until Tuesday to file charges against Ross, who continues to be held by authorities.

According to ABC News, the police have classified Hassani’s case as a homicide investigation rather than a missing person’s case and have said they are now searching for his body.
