After a Tuesday morning hearing including defense attorneys, prosecutors, and Judge Stan Strickland, Casey Anthony’s murder trial has been postponed.
Casey is charged with the first-degree murder of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee, and faces the death penalty if convicted.
WDBO reports that her newest attorney, Dr. Andrea Lyon told the judge that her teaching schedule would not allow her to be ready for the trial tentatively scheduled for Oct. 12.
“I will be making a motion at this time to strike that trial date, to set a status date sometime in January and to set a trial date at that time when all the parties know where we are,” said Lyon.
During the hearing, defense attorney Jose Baez agreed to let prosecutors take photographs of Casey’s “Bella Vita” or “beautiful life” tattoo as long as he is present.
A pretrial hearing in the case is now scheduled for January 21, 2010 at 10:00 a.m.
