Melissa Huckaby, the woman accused of abducting, raping, and murdering 8-year-old Sandra Cantu is now in the center of a custody battle involving her own daughter.

The alleged murderer’s ex-husband, Johnny Huckaby is fighting Melissa’s mother, Judy Lawless for the custody of their 5-year-old daughter Madison.

According to Lawless, Madison has had little contact with her father and has lived with her most of her life.

The matter is scheduled to be heard in court on July 6.

Melissa remains in jail and is scheduled to appear in San Joaquin County Superior Court on Friday regarding her arraignment.
