D.C. hockey moms for Palin
Sarah Palin has generated a whole new facet of supporters for the Republican presidential ticket: hockey moms.
Co-founder Kellie Boyle models one of the custom jerseys made by Hockey Moms for McCain/Palin.
This newly formed group of women, known as “Hockey Moms For McCain/Palin,” began in a Washington suburb and now resides in all 50 states. Their similarity to Palin goes far beyond their “pit bull with lipstick” attitudes. They share the governor’s values when it comes to important issues such as health care, education, and taxes.
“This is our way of rallying the troops,” said Kellie Boyle, who co-founded
Hockey Moms for McCain/Palin along with her friend, Adrienne Cordova. “We have a saying in hockey: it may be the third period, but the game is not over.”
Boyle’s teenage son (a hockey player) had the opportunity to present Palin with the custom Washington Capitals jersey when the campaign rallied in Fairfax on September 10. The jersey was made at the pro shop at the
Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington, Va., and the group hopes to inspire hockey moms in other cities to do the same with their favorite teams.
Hockey moms are known as the tough women who endure early morning practices in freezing cold conditions. Is that the type of woman you want working hard for our country, making tough decisions, and standing up to our enemies? You betcha. Sarah Palin is one of those women.
