Ginger in its raw form... natural art!

Ginger, she was a hottie!  Yea, I know that dates me, but Gilligan's Island was a fun show back in the days.  You are saying... "Mango, what does any of that have to do with food!"  Well Ginger was a hottie and so is the root of ginger.  You could say that "Ginger" was spicy, just like the root.

As far as the Island part... we are not living on an Island by ourselves anymore.  The world has become "Universal"... it is becoming a "One World".  One world where we love one another, respect each others beliefs and share in the beautiful differences that we all share.  With Thanksgiving around the corner... it is a time to be thankful for all of our blessings and gifts.  Believe me, life is challenging with many situations that we just don't understand.  I won't get too deep right now, just know that life is a gift... a precious gift.  Do you appreciate life?  Do you LOVE life?  If you don't ... START!  It could be over in a flash!

Back to Ginger... it is a root and has many medicinal qualities.  In this next recipe, it is a soothing drink to settle your stomach if... 1) you eat too much  2) if you are catching the winter flu bug.

Take 2-3 inches of the ginger, do not peel, and cut into thin slices.  Next take 3-5 cinnamon sticks and place the cinnamon and the ginger root slices and put them into a pot of water (4-8 cups) and bring to a boil.  Reduce the heat and simmer for at least a 1/2 hour.  Keep adding water as it reduces.  Take this elictur and pour into a cup... 1) plain with a little honey;  2) over a tea bag if you like; or 3) mix with cider mix.  How ever you drink it, it will sooth your insides and you will feel a little "spicy"!

Keep a pot going all winter long, it gives a nice aroma in the house and again is a great daily beverage to keep you feeling good "inside"!

O.K. Mango-heads this holiday season remember to give more than you ever have before, be kind to all those you meet... The world is going through a big change, which is the only thing that is constant in life... and that is "CHANGE".  Decide to change to be better, kinder, more forgiving than ever before.  God bless or whatever you believe... be kind to yourself, too!

Peace... This has been a Mango moment

Life has no limitations, except the ones you make.
