Traditions create history or is it history creates traditions.  How ever you look at it, it is in these traditions that define our many different cultures.  In the food world, traditions can stir up many a good recipes that everyone in the world can share.  Not only sharing in the tradition of that culture but also in sharing some pretty tasty foods.

A little "Green" for the New Year!

In many Asian countries, long noodles are eaten on New Year's Day in order to bring a long life. If you want all the good luck associated with the noodles than you can't break the noodle before it is all in your mouth.  A common good luck food in the southern United States, black-eyed peas are thought to bring prosperity, especially when served with collard greens.  In Germany, Ireland, and parts of the United States, cabbage is associated with luck and fortune since it is green and resembles money. Thought to resemble coins, lentils are eaten throughout Italy for good fortune in the New Year.

Long associated with abundance and fertility, pomegranates are eaten in Turkey and other Mediterranean countries for luck in the New Year.  In North America, Asia, and Europe, people eat fish to celebrate the new year.  In some countries, people associate fish with moving forward into the new year since fish swim forward.  Other people think fish symbolize abundance since they swim in schools.

So with all that info,  maybe you could start your own traditions by creating a great meal using all the ingredients.  Just think you would be really creating alot of wealth, health, abundance and prosperity.  I guess you could say that you would also be creating a... multi-cultural "MJM Mouthgasm".  Now that is HOT -n- Tasty!

Well, I guess this will be the last article of this year, so with that in mind I would like to say...

First off, be thankful for everything that happened this year!  It all has a purpose.  Second be grateful for your life... many people have passed away this year and don't have another year to celebrate... LIFE.  Life, it is such a precious gift, a gift that many of us take for granted.  Appreciate everything in your life.  You are truly blessed, more than you realize!  Third, if you are not where you want to be, YOU are the only one that can change that.  Don't be afraid... whatever you dream, whatever it is you desire... you can achieve... if you BELIEVE!  I believe in you, the Universe in all its Glory... believes in you.  Remember, this is our lives... let us all rejoice in ourselves and then go out and spread some love.  Many people in our world needs a gentle touch, a soft spoken word of appreciation and the knowledge that they are very important in this world too!  God bless you all or whatever you believe that to be.  Be safe this evening so that you can continue to create the greatest life of your life!  Thanks for tuning in and as always, until next time... Live the Life that you Love!

This has been a New Years Eve Mango moment...

I stand at the threshold of a new year. May God help me to be kind, fair and wise in all my affairs.
