2012 Synopsis: Never before has a date in history been so significant to so many cultures, so many religions, scientists, and governments. A global cataclysm brings an end to the world and tells of the heroic struggle of the survivors.

The cast includes Danny Glover, Thandie Newton, John Cusack, Amanda Peet, Woody Harrelson, Oliver Platt and George Segal.

Normally I am not a fan of disaster flicks, but I have a special place in my heart for John Cusack. As an 80s child, I have grown up with him. He is the epitome of the 'nice guy.'  I also have a special place in my heart for ancient civilizations, legends and lore.  The wild speculation and conjecture associated with the end of the Mayan calendar in 2012 is absolutely perfect for an apocolyptic action film.  I stumbled across the newest trailers for John Cusack's upcoming film, 2012, and was thrilled to find a disaster film incorporating both elements with the expected double dose of Hollywood special effects, explosions and dramatic destruction of familiar icons. I'm in.  Unfortunately, the film won't be out until November 13th.
