When people think Comic Books from the 1990's, odds are they'll think of legendary comic book artist and writer Joe Madureira of X-Men and Battle Chasers fame. Well, it turns out Joe Madureira is creative director and writer for Darksiders: Wrath of War, so it's no surprise then that the game is creating quite a buzz.
Darksiders: Wrath of War, developed by Vigil Games, is set on post-apocalyptic Earth. Unseen forces have brought about the armageddon prematurely, and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are held responsible. Banished, they're cast down to the ruined earth. Players take control or "War", one of the four horsemen, who makes it his business to find out exactly who betrayed who, why the apocalypse turned out the way it did, and make those responsible pay for it dearly.
Armed with brutal techniques and divine abilities, War and his supernatural steed, Ruin, fight and explore the demon-ravaged world in search of answers, and revenge.
Darksiders looks fantastic. The story scenes are theatrically and graphically impressive, and the combat looks extremely fun and vicious. There is a heavy Zelda influence that's apparent in its gameplay. You explore your area, looking for keys and weapons that will help you advance to the next few areas. But exploration is important too, and the open world environment offers players the freedom to explore and play at their own pace, without being forced to follow a linear path, as most action games would have you do.
Set for release early 2010, don't miss out on this impressive action adventure! Check out Examiner.com in the next few months for further info.
