A Harry Potter exhibit, currently in its world premiere showing at Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry, adds to the legacy of the books and films by showcasing props and costumes as historical artifacts of the fantasy franchise. "Harry Potter (TM): The Exhibition" allows readers and audiences to see original costumes, props, models of creatures, and set designs inspired by those in the film firsthand in a museum setting.
The exhibit features over 200 artifacts, including Harry's signature glasses and wand, Quidditch uniforms, Yule Ball outfits, and models of Buckbeak and Kreacher. The exhibit has an interactive aspect that allows viewers to sit in Hagrid's giant-sized chair, pull a screaming Mandrake out of a flower pot, and throw a Quaffle.
Artifacts from the upcoming film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, opening in theaters July 15, 2009, are also part of the exhibit.
The exhibit will be in Chicago until September 27, 2009. For more information, see the museum website.
