Cast members from the upcoming film, My Sister's Keeper, presented an award Sunday night at the MTV Movie Awards. The three principle actors--Cameron Diaz, Abigail Breslin, and Sofia Vassilieva--were all on hand to present the Best Female Performance award to Kristen Stewart of Twilight. Abigail Breslin read Stewart's name from the envelope and handed her the award when the actor came up on stage.
The presentation and acceptance of this award provided a bit of realism in a show that prides itself on scripting its own surprises. While making her acceptance speech, Ms. Stewart set the award down on the podium in front of her. Just as she was wrapping up her remarks, she went to pick it up with her right hand, when the top-heavy "Golden Popcorn" trophy tipped right out of her hand and fell some distance away on the stage.
Kristen chased after it, then left it on the floor to come back to the podium to finish her sentence of thanking the cast she works with on the Twilight films. She concluded by saying, "It [her acceptance speech] was just about as awkward as you thought it was going to be. Bye!"
My Sister's Keeper is based on the bestselling novel by Jodi Picoult. The film based on the book is due to be released in theaters on June 26th.
