Snack o' Lanterns (REL)

These little party snacks are so cute, and not too hard to make. They take a little time, but the kids are so excited about their tiny jack o' lantern, it's worth the effort. Four lanterns will take about twenty minutes. If you are having a party, you'll want to make the fruit salad shortly before you are ready to serve, so that the fruit doesn't turn brown. Kids are funny about that sort of thing.

Snack o' Lanterns

Ingredients:
Naval oranges
Fruit salad (canned or home made)

Directions:
1. Cut the top off of naval oranges, one for each guest.
2. Scoop out the fruit inside. (I used a big spoon, which worked ok, but I ended up with a lot of orange juice until I got the hang of it, Cutting a larger piece off the top helps)
3. Cut the tiny little faces out of the orange peel.
4. Fill with fruit salad. Put the top back on if you like. Serve fresh.
