Your halloween party won't be complete without this spooky main dish. It's pretty easy and fast, and best of all, filling.

Bread Bowls

2 (.25 oz) pkg yeast
2 tsp. sugar
2 1/2 cups warm water
1 T. salt
2 T. vegetable oil
6-7 cups flour

1 T. cornmeal
1 T. olive oil
1 egg white
1 T water

Dissolve yeast and sugar in water. Add salt, oil, and 4 cups flour. Mix and add remaining flour 1/2 cup at a time until dough is elastic. Knead for about 6 minutes. Raise 40 minutes and punch down. Divide into 6-12 round loaves. Place on olive oil greased baking sheet, sprinkled with cornmeal. Cover and raise 30 minutes. After second raising, mix together egg yolk and water. Brush dough with 1/2 of egg mixture. Bake 15 minutes, then brush with remaining egg wash. Bake 10-15 more minutes. Cool. To serve, cut off tops and scoop out center. Serve immediately after cutting.
(IF you have younger children, the small bowl size works really well. That way they can still have room to eat the bread bowl, and if they need more soup, they can always have a refill, before they eat the bowl of course.)

Ghostly Goop Soup (Potato Cheese)

4 cups sliced potatoes, peeled
2 cups water or vegetable stock
2 tsp. salt
1 small onion, sliced
1 T. oil
3 cups milk
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
2 T. butter
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp pepper
garlic powder to taste

In a stock pot, cook the potatoes in water with salt until tender. Drain the potatoes, reserving the water. Transfer potatoes to a bowl and set aside. In the same pot, saute onion in oil unitl it is soft. Place 1/2 of the potatoes, 1/2 potato water, and onion in blender, and puree until potatoes are smooth. Return the potato mixture to the pot, add reserved potatoes and milk, stirring continuously. Add the cheese, butter, salt, pepper and garlic powder. Cook over medium heat until the cheese is melted and the soup is hot, but do not boil.
