On the season premier of "Big Brother 11" on CBS, the mystery houseguest was finally revealed. Four previous "Big Brother" houseguests had the opportunity to enter the game as the mystery houseguest. Jessica Hughbanks from season 8, Jessie Godderz from season 10, Brian Hart from season 10 and Michael “Cowboy” Ellis from season 5. The first 12 houseguests were grouped into high school cliques; Athletes, Brains, Offbeat and Popular. The four potential houseguests wore shirts that represented which group they would represent if they entered the house.

The first competition to determine the first HOH or Head of household revealed that none of the 12 houseguests competing would win. However if one of the cliques win the competition the mystery houseguest that represents their clique will be the new HOH. Also, members of the HOH’s clique were safe from nomination for the week

The "Big Brother" houseguests began the competition called “the wedgie”. The cliques were suspended from underwear and had to hold on to a toilet seat. The last clique remaining suspended would win the competition. After a weeding out the Brains and Offbeat cliques, a grueling endurance match started between the Athletes and the one member from the Popular cliques. In the end, the Athletes won, making Jessie Godderz the 13th houseguest. Jessie enters the house as the first HOH of the game. The members of his clique are safe from eviction this week.
