Update:
Michael Jackson continues to set records months after his death. The upcoming film that documents his final performance on camera, “This Is It” has broken one day sales records. In the United Kingdom, ticket sales reach over 30,000 in the first 24 hours of ticket sales. Movietickets.com has put the film on its “Top-25 Advance Ticket Sellers of All-Time”. The world can now get a glimpse into Michael Jackson’s world as he prepared to go on his final tour. In the last couple of days television commercials for the film has increased.

But for all the fanfare and hype for the film there are the detractors. According to the New York Daily News some fans are angry and protesting the movie. A group claims that the producers of “This Is It” manipulated pictures and video to make the King of Pop appear stronger and healthier. The group has created a website at www.this-is-not-it.com where they list things that the producers won’t show you. Among the things that they list is Jackson’s dramatic weight loss, confusion due to lack of sleep and his inability to climb a flight of stairs unassisted. The King of Pop Michael Jackson died in late June of massive doses of prescribed drugs including Propofol. His personal physical Dr. Conrad Murray is at the center of a homicide investigation by the LAPD.

Despite the protests, speculation of body doubles and image manipulations, fans are still interested and flocking to theaters to view what has to be the most anticipated movie premiere of the year. In Los Angeles, the biggest stars in Hollywood arrived at the Nokia Theater to see the documentary. A live video stream was available on the L.A. Times website with celebrity interviews as they arrived at the premiere. Michael Jackson’s family and close friends had a private screening of the movie. Dame Elizabeth Taylor was one of those privileged few to view the film a week in advance. The legendary actress wrote about the movie on her twitter account saying:

It is the single most brilliant piece of filmmaking I have ever seen. It cements forever Michael's genius in every aspect of creativity.

You owe it to yourselves and your loved ones to see this again and again. Memorize it and say to yourselves, "I saw genius in my lifetime"

Elizabeth Taylor was one of Michael Jackson’s closest and dearest friends. Taylor’s last marriage was held at Jackson’s Neverland ranch in California.

The producers of “This Is It” didn’t allow the media to see an advance screening of the film; instead they released a 12 minute clip. The 1 hour and 51 minute film will premiere simultaneously in 18 countries.
