In these economic times dressing as a fashionista is hard on a small budget. How do I dress like a fashionista? I have been asked this question on several occasions. To answer this question, first you have to shop wisely. Shopping wisely is shopping on clearance or on sale. For that matter, shop where there is free shipping. Although, these are great ways to save money and to extend the budget, I have more ways as well.

The second suggestion is to have a “Clothing exchange party”. What is a “Clothing Exchange Party“? It is a party that one person hosts at their home and invite others to exchange clothing they no longer want from their own closets. This is very economic and earth-friendly. Now, the key is to invite those people you adore their clothing in the first place. My catch is that no one I know dresses like me or they are not my size. This can be a problem.

The other or my third suggestion, is to find a great second-hand store. A store you can purchase clean, high quality items that fit your budget. To get more from using these stores is to bring in your items you are bored with in exchange for credit in their store. This also is great for the economy, earth-friendly and may are non-profit organizations that are created for some sort of charity.

My fourth and last suggestion is that if you love clothes as much as I do, I purchase fabric at a sale or discount price and I make my own (many times designing them as well.) This way you have those fabulous skirts for a minimal price as you would purchasing them from Gucci. I have made several skirts that I was able to purchase the pattern and similar fabric for about a quarter to half the price of the original. By doing this too, you get a more tailored look and the colour you want. Try out these ideas and extend your fashionista budget.
