One of New York City's newest popular rare small breed is the Bedllington Terrier. The fact that the breed looks so much like a lamb is not surprising. Their personalities are similar. The breed is gentle, warm, and great with kids.
Weighing in at anywhere between 17 and 23 lbs, Bedlingtons are muscular and sporting dogs. The breed has a curly, wooly coat that starts out dark in puppyhood and fades to a pale bluish gray, liver colored, or sandy colored.
Bedlingtons originated in the north of England and were actually used to hunt rats from mines in the early 1800s. Also known for their great speed and agility, they were used in racing contests with
Wippets.
The breed is not at all rambuncious so these dogs are great with small children. Funny and
full of playfulness, the Bedlington makes a great companion for anyone.
