Recently a crafty friend turned me on to Instructables.com, a web-based documentation platform where people share what they do and how they do it.

The free site allows you to browse and post your own DIY ideas and comment on other people’s instructions. Get gardening, cooking, and knitting know how as well as tips for refashioning junk into jewels. The extensive “green” section offers tutorials on everything from making pants from old sleeves to making your own deodorant to building your own solar power setup.

Check out the “offbeat” section for instructions on how to milk a goat and how to build a tandoor oven with a flower pot and a steel drum. Finding out how to make a beehive from a computer case has never been easier!
