In the real world 5'7" may not be considered short, but in the world of modeling it's the difference between landing a job or hitting the pavement.

For the upcoming season of America's Next Top Model, the protocol is a little different this time around. On cycle 13, host and mentor Tyra Banks will be coaching those girls who would ordinarily be overlooked--those who are 5'7" and under.
In the past, the show has had a minimum height requirement of 5'7". In broadening their horizons, Tyra is hoping to break barriers for women who otherwise wouldn't be considered in the modeling industry.
“There have been top super models in the past that weren’t as tall as the industry demands, like fashion icon Kate Moss,” Tyra Banks mentioned during casting earlier this year. “So we are changing up Top Model for Cycle 13 and making it a year for the shorter model!”
The show's home network, the CW, has announced that the show will premiere with a special two-hour episode on Wednesday September 9 at 8 p.m.
