Let's face it, your kids are probably more tech savvy than you are. Why not indulge them by finding some good stuff to put on that Zune or iPod? Here are some great suggestions for kid-friendly podcasts.
StoryNory.com
This is a vast library of free story downloads of classic children's stories. They are recorded by Natasha, who has a lovely British accent and reads the stories quite nicely. The text for the stories is available on the website, so kids can listen at the computer and read along, or download them to an iPod.

Candlelight Stories Audio for Kids
This website allows you to download classic stories like Snow White and the Seven Dwarves and The Three Little Pigs. The production value on these stories is really high, making these beautiful to listen to and worth loading up on the iPod.

Big Story Time
These are adorable recordings of children's stories, as read by 5 year old Mitchell and his friends. They are very sweet and are done well. Listening to other kids read stories may inspire your kids to make their own podcasts, so be prepared!

60-Second Science
Scientific American offers free downloads of their daily shots of science. You can find quick reports on things like earthquakes and the geology of mausoleums. These are obviously intended for older ears, so if you have a science-minded teenager, this could be a nice addition to their library.

The Science Show for Kids
For elementary-aged kids with scientific curiousity, try this fun podcast created by Dr. Dave Brodbeck of Algoma University. Kids send in their own questions and Dr. Dave answers them. He answers the questions in a fairly simple way, and though it doesn't have dramatic production values, it's basic presentation is appealing.
