It's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. It's even easier to forget that there are those less fortunate struggling to get through. With the economy as dire as it is, many families are in need of help putting gifts under the tree for their children and food on the table. We've created a small list of some of the organizations on the Eastside that could use your help in giving everyone the opportunity to enjoy the holidays. If this list doesn't appeal to you, look into giving trees at your place of employment as well as your local place of worship. This is a wonderful opportunity to show your children how acts of compassion can make a huge impact on someone's holiday.

Youth Eastside Services
Youth Eastside Services is holding their annual Adopt-A-Family program. Companies, community groups, and individuals are needed to sponsor a family in need this holiday season. Sponsors are matched with a family and provided with a detailed wish list, and sponsors are then asked to provide a new, unwrapped gift for each family member along with an article of clothing for each child. Contact Christina Church at 425.586.2314 for more information.

Eastside Baby Corner
Shopping for gifts online is an easy way to check items off your list, and now you can help Eastside Baby Corner receive a donation from purchases you make through Amazon. Eastside Baby Corner provides children and families in need with clothing, toys, and other items that are donated. Before you start shopping through Amazon, go to Eastside Baby Corner's website and look for the Amazon.com link. It won't cost you anything extra and is so simple to do!

Eastside Domestic Violence Program
Eastside Domestic Violence Program is Washington state's largest provider of services to victims of domestic violence, and they can really use your help this holiday season. You can donate cash, gift certificates to stores that carry food, clothing, and toys in one place, pick up a tag at the Nordstrom Giving Tree in Bellevue Square, or you can Gift-A-Family. To find out how you can help, call the EDVP's Holiday Line at 425.562.8840 ext 408.

Hopelink
Hopelink has locations in Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, and Sno-Valley and offers a multitude of ways you can brighten the holiday seasons for families in need. Cash donations, food donations, gift rooms, clothing donations, giving trees, and volunteer opportunities are all available when it comes to choosing how to help. You can call 425.869.6000 for more information.
