YouTube has removed a video of a teen appearing to give birth in a school yard while surrounded by other teens.  The video appears to be grainy footage shot on a cell phone, and at one point, you can see the head of a baby as it is being delivered by another teen girl.

The video was created by NHS Leceister in the United Kingdom as part of a viral ad campaign designed to reach teens.  The video does not include any text or identifying messages.  It just appears to be unedited video.

"We know this film is hard-hitting but so are the numbers of under-18s getting pregnant in Leicester," Tim Rideout, chief executive of NHS Leicester City, told the Guardian newspaper. "Nearly half the city's wards are classed as teen pregnancy 'hotspots'."

YouTube has become more aggressive in removing videos it deems offensive or inappropriate.  The video was removed within 24 hours of it being posted.

The video is part of a docu-drama slated to begin in June that will explore issues of teen pregnancy and prevention.   It is actually relatively tame, and I am surprised it was removed.  It is intended to draw in teens to watch the storyline that develops, something that could actually reach notoriously message-resistant teens.  Considering some of the stuff that is far more offensive, I think this video, which actually has a valuable goal, is worth keeping around.

To see the video, click here, then click on the cellphone in the lower left hand of the screen.
