Will you go classic or try something new?

It happens every fall. You and your family spend a great day out at the pumpkin patch, find the perfect pumpkin (or two or three!), and when you get home you realize you have no idea how to carve it. Oh, you know how to carve it, but you want some new ideas and clever patterns. Luckily there are plenty of websites that are filled with patterns and stencils that you can print at home and will transfer your plain pumpkin into a unique jack-o-lantern. Take a peek at what you can find!

Free patterns
DLTK offers a wide variety of free patterns that are sure to please younger kiddos. You can carve cats, bats, or try something like Thomas the Tank Engine or Blue's Clues.

Better Homes and Gardens has many creative and unique ideas for making your pumpkin spooktacular. There are witches, cats, bats, and more for you to browse through and choose.

Martha Stewart will help you turn your pumpkin into a masterpiece with one of her amazing templates. Will you choose Spectral Scene, Bird of Prey, or Crow's Foe?

Celebrating-Halloween also has dozens of great templates to print up and use. There are classic ghosts and other ideas that actually don't look too difficult!

Nick Jr. has great patterns featuring your kiddo's favorite characters from tv! There's Dora, Diego, Backyardigans, Yo Gabba Gabba, and more!

Templates and Stencils for sale (cheap!)
The Pumpkin Lady has over 200 patterns for pumpkins. With that number, there's no doubt you will find something you can carve! Prices are reasonable, from $1.49 to $2.49 and there are also discounts for multiple patterns. There are also free patterns on the site.

SpookMaster has free patterns (although not many) but for $5.95 you can browse through nearly 300 stencil patterns.

Zombie Pumpkins has all kinds of pumpkins, from scary to not-so-scary at all (Hello, Elmo!). They have a few freebies to download (including Barack Obama) and membership prices range from $2 to $20. $2 buys you two patterns of your choice, $5 buys you 25 patterns of your choice. Not too bad!
