Is it possible we could get some more sunny weather before it disappears for good?  Who knows, but if we do, there are lots of great things to do this week.  In fact, even if it rains, there will be great things to do.  Check them out!   And remember, there are tons of other things, like salmon spotting, on our daily calendar.

Kids' Cove at Bellevue Square
It's raining out?  Don't worry!  Head to the third floor at Bellevue Square and let your kids get the wiggles out at the fantastic new play area.  It has tug boats and castles and slides, all made of the same soft structure as the mall's original tugboats, so little kids won't get too many bumps and scrapes.  It is surrounded by a comfy bench for caregivers to sit and watch the whole place, and best of all, there is only one way for little ones to escape!  There's a little coffee stand right there, topping off a great place to relax while your kids go crazy!  It's open whenever the mall is open, even before the stores open, perfect if your kid gets up early like mine!

Haunted Trails and Carnival at St. Edwards Park
This Friday and Saturday, head to Kenmore for the Haunted Trails and Carnival.  There are tons of things to keep you spooked.  Start with the Haunted Trails Tour if you are 8 and older, or try the Trick or Treat Trail or Scarecrow's Tale Hayride for little ones.  Then check out the Supernatural Spookfest Carnival, with fortune tellers, face painting, and food and activity booths.  If you still aren't scared, try to find your way out of Hades' Labyrinth, a 2,400 square foot maze filled with ghouls, goblins and monsters (again, not for 8 and under).  It is all 5:30-10pm each Friday and Saturday, this weekend and next

 MIPA Halloween Party

If you find yourself on Mercer Island this Saturday, stop by the Mercer Island Preschool Association's Halloween Party.  It goes from 10am to 2pm at Islander Middle School (8225 Se 72nd St, Mercer Island, WA 98040).  There will be lots of fun and festive stuff for little ones, specifically designed not to be scary.  Come dressed up and enjoy games, entertainment, crafts, and treats.  It is $6 for members and $8 for non-members.  They throw a great party!
