It's Saturday, August 29. You still have time to get to Piedmont Park for the 2009 Atlanta Red Bull Soapbox Races. What are you waiting for?
As you can see from this photo, soapbox racing has been around for a long, long time. For most of that time it was for kids... well, little kids. Not to be outdone, now the big kids are having a turn.
Atlanta soapbox racers will compete down 10th Street near Piedmont Park today. Pits open at 11am, Opening Ceremony at 12:45pm, and the First Race begins at 1pm.
You can ride MARTA to get there, enjoy some zany decorations-on-wheels, and vote for your favorite team. It's a beautiful day -- GO!
