Scot David Millar showed great form in Stage 6.

Sometimes you win, sometimes you don't.
Either way, up until the final moments of today's wet and windy ride, spectators in Barcelona were witness to cycling history as David Millar gave the standout (and comeback)  performance of the day.  Millar was, by far, today's most aggressive competitor. The Scot's long breakaway ride and tireless cycling effort drew cheers from the crowds all along the route.  Trailing riders finally overtook Millar just 1.2km from the finish line.

Cervelo TestTeam had quite a day, too.
The first year team rode hard through the rain and wind, but not without incident.

  • Team captain, Carlos Sastre, slipped in an early pile-up, but finished the race in the main pack of riders.
  • Jose Angel Marchante crashed once, while Heinrich Haussler hit the gravel twice. Haussler's last fall was in a crash involving 30 riders. Ouch!
  • Despite the mishaps, Cervalo's Thor Hushovd took Stage 6 with a time of 4 hours 21 minutes 33 seconds. Hushovd peddled at just under 25 m.p.h.

Other news from Stage 6 of the Tour
Cavendish finished 16th, claimed 10 points, and retains the green jersey by just one point, and Cancellara, who finished 10th today, keeps his lead over Armstrong, but only by a hair.
