McGraw Hill’s Engineering News Record (ENR) reported on 9/04/2009 that, according to U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate in construction improved in August at 16.5% from July rate of 18.2% while 65,000 jobs were lost in this month.

This tells me that although 65,000 people lost their construction related jobs, many more found a job. So, if you are looking for a job, you know that there were more that 65,000 new jobs created just in August. How would it be next month? As things have been progressively getting better, hopefully, next month would be better.

If you are one of the people who lost your job last month, it helps to know that your job did not disappear entirely. It just moved to another company somewhere else. In other words, the jobs are being reshuffled with some additions thrown in.
