USA Today has ranked Phoenix the cheapest city to visit on vacation in the US this summer. If you can stand the heat, come stand in our kitchen - on the cheap!

Prices on everything from hotel rooms to green fees drop dramatically when the mercury rises. Combined with our four pro sports teams, sun-filled weather allowing for constant poolside relaxation opportunities, and tourist attractions like the Desert Botanical Garden, Phoenix is the hot spot for budget travelers, according to the newspaper.

Basically, you stay in a great hotel, catch a Diamondbacks game, see some gorgeous night-blooming desert flowers and play cheap golf, all for far less than you’d pay in any other major city in the country.

Rounding out the top five were Las Vegas, New Orleans, Austin, and Orlando.
