There are two things people come to Phoenix to enjoy: sunshine and golf. (Three if you count plastic surgery.) Summertime has both of those items, in spades.
This is the perfect time of year for the avid golfer in Phoenix, because green fees are slashed by half or more. Since tourism in Phoenix tends to wane as the mercury rises, courses need to keep up their revenue and do so by offering killer deals.
Like this one at ASU’s renowned Karsten Golf Course: $35 a person ($25 after 10 AM) will get you a round of golf, including a cart. Or hit up the Whirlwind Golf Course at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass -- where the New York Giants stayed during the Super Bowl -- where for $35 or $45 (depending on the time) you get a round on the green and a round at the bar.
Almost every course in the Phoenix area has a summer special. Inquire at your favorite resort or club to see what they’re offering; great deals are to be had this time of year.
Remember, Phoenix days heat up quickly temperatures reach triple digits early. Stay hydrated, wear lots of sunscreen and make your tee time as early as possible.
