Saeb Ahsan, a fourth year Finance major, is active in UIC's Entrepreneurship program, and is making a big name for himself and his business. He is the only Illinois college student as a finalist for the title of College Entrepreneur of 2009.

He started the project with friend and co-founder Justin Polera, who transferred from the Art Institute. They both had business ideas involving the arts and they wanted to work together in creating a product for the mass market.

Seeing graphic design take off and become trendy on printed apparel, Saeb felt that fine art could have a spot in the fashion world as well.

Thus Flux Collection was born- a mix of community participation with a fine art stamp of approval. Their plans are to create images of wearable art from classical to modern for everyone to wear from tshirts to bags.

Ahsan entered the contest sponsored by Entrepreneur Magazine, enthusiastic that he met the needs for the publication that he respected highly.

Ahsan and his business partners and art enthusiasts have worked with some well known artists in Chicago and he aspires for Flux Collection to be a launching pad for more in the future.

They marketed themselves through Facebook, Twitter, Massmails, and the newspapers at UIC and received help from supportive staff.

So after all the hard work, marketing, and voting, one would ask what it would mean to be College Entrepreneur of 2009. Ahsan says that  right now the company is in the beta phase and is looking to get the resources to get larger and showcase more artists.

After graduation, Ahsan wants to help local entrepreneurs with the mindset of the social good, continue his work with Flux Collection, and combine positive changes in community with business.

Did you know? Flux Collection garments are being sold at the ultra-hip Chicago botuique Akira Men (1910 w north avenue, wicker park, chicago).
