With the final day of early voting Friday, Harris County officials said the total number of in-person and mail-in ballots collected since Oct. 20 are now more numerous than there are persons in the states of North Dakota, Alaska, Vermont and the District of Columbia.
According to the Harris County District Clerk's office, 754,499 ballots were cast between the start of early voting two weeks ago and Oct. 31.
A source at the office of Tax Assessor-Collector Paul Bettencourt's office said last week the county expects approximately 600,000 ballots to be collected on Nov. 4 Election Day, based on the vast response to calls from county and political leaders to turn out for early voting.
Currently, Harris County has 1,950,300 registered voters. More than 13.5 million voters are registered in Texas, according to Secretary of State Hope Andrade.
