Kentucky Wildcats vs. Eastern Kentucky
Kentucky got a much needed victory over an instate rival in EKU.It was a slow start for the Cats but they picked up steam towards the middle of the game when running backs Moncell Allen and Alfonso Smith both scored on short-yard touchdowns.

Freshman quarterback Morgan Newton got things going through the air with two touchdowns of his own, one to wide receiver Chris Matthews and the other to tight end Maurice Grinter. The Wildcats defense stepped up in the most desperate of ways as linebacker Sam Maxwell and others held the Colonels to 264 total yards.Look for UK to expend all of their energy in next week’s game against Vanderbilt on the defensive side of the ball. Vanderbilt has a solid running back in Warren Norman. He can get in the end-zone if he’s not contained, with three touchdowns on the season but hasn’t scored in six games.

#9 LSU vs. #3 Alabama
Alabama came into this highly touted contest with a chance to continue their run at a perfect season. LSU contained the Crimson Tide early in the game. As the third quarter ended, the Tigers were thinking upset as they held ‘Bama at bay with a (15-13) lead. It was all for not in the fourth however, as Greg McElroy hooked up with wide receiver Julio Jones on a 79-yard bomb that put Alabama up 21-15. Alabama kicker Leigh Tiffin sealed the victory for Nick Saban in the fourth quarter with a 40-yard field goal, leading Alabama to a necessary win to keep their perfect season intact.

Heisman candidate Mark Ingram led Alabama with 144 rushing yards but didn’t have a score in the game. Alabama now heads into an interesting matchup with Mississippi State in Starkville this Saturday, a date that needs to be circled on everyone’s calendar. Running back Tony Dixon is big and serves as the Bulldogs offensive force. It will be up to the stout ‘Bama defense led by All-American linebacker Renaldo McClain to contain head coach Dan Mullen’s offensive attack. It should be another thriller for ‘Bama as they continue their push to Atlanta and the SEC conference championship game.

Vanderbilt vs. #1 Florida
Sitting at (2-5) on the season and yet to win an SEC game, it looked to be blowout central for the Gators. It wasn’t what everyone expected; an offensive barrage and aerial attack by Tim Tebow, as Vanderbilt hanged tough for two quarters as Florida went into the half only up (13-0).

Things quickly changed however for the Gators with Tebow accounting for two touchdowns in the second half. He bullied his way in for a one-yard touchdown and then threw an 8-yard pass to wide receiver David Nelson. Florida’s biggest asset was their defensive which saw starting linebacker Brandon Spikes on the sidelines due to a suspension. It didn’t matter though, as the Gator defense held the Commodores to 199 total yards. Florida is still perfect on the season and will look to push through the rest of their games with Spikes returning next week in a much anticipated matchup against Florida’s former head coach Steve Spurrier and South Carolina. South Carolina is reeling after a big loss to Arkansas, all while giving up 329 passing yards to quarterback Ryan Mallet. Look for Florida to continue their perfection with a road victory this Saturday.

South Carolina vs. Arkansas
South Carolina came into this matchup in Fayetteville having lost in a blowout to Tennessee only a week earlier. The Gamecocks continued to sputter on offense by only putting up 16 points, the fourth straight game in which they failed to score more than 20 points. Head coach Steve Spurrier is in disarraying after two straight losses and the season only gets tougher with a matchup looming against #1 Florida. Arkansas was impressive when quarterback Ryan Mallet threw for 329 yards but was unable to throw one for a touchdown. Arkansas running back Broderick Green scored twice on only 47-yards rushing. He now has eight on the season. Both teams are out on contention for an SEC title.

Other SEC matchups:
Memphis (28) vs. Tennessee (56)
Furman (31) vs. Auburn(63)
Tennessee Tech (0) vs. Georgia (38)
Northern Arizona (14) vs. Mississippi (38)
