Thanksgiving Day has become known as a day for over eating.  Many people take measured steps to ensure that they are hungry enough to eat as much of Thanksgiving dinner as possible.  However, some people have a different issue to deal with on Thanksgiving; multiple dinners.  Some of you lucky individuals have gotten invitations to more than one dinner tomorrow and now you have to figure out how to properly enjoy both dinners.  If you overeat at one dinner, you won’t be able to eat at the other and the person who invited you may feel slighted.  I have a few suggestions on how you can make sure to enjoy both dinners while not becoming a stuffed turkey yourself.

1.  Wake up early and do some cardio for at least 30 minutes.  You want to get your body up and moving.  You will have to visit multiple houses and you need the energy and mental clarity to be able to be a good guest throughout the day.  You don’t want to crash in the middle of a dinner or after your first visit.

2.  Eat a high protein breakfast with no bread in the morning.  You want to make sure you start the day off with breakfast because you need to stimulate your metabolism.  You also want to make sure you eat breakfast before 10am, whether you’re hungry or not.  The protein will satisfy your morning hunger and get your body burning calories.  Make sure you don't eat any bread or bread products because they will lay in your stomach and make you feel full longer.  If you skip breakfast entirely, you will be famished by the time you get to the first dinner and actually be unable to eat much food at all.  Starving yourself always backfires.

3.  Get small portions.  Whether the dinner is self serve or full service, make sure you eat small portions of everything.  If you pile your plate up with food, you will fill up and be tapped out really quickly and unable to keep eating as needed.

4.  Bring containers for to go plates.  Depending on the size of the dinner party, there may or may not be leftovers but if the host invites it, take a plate home with you.  This is a great compliment to the cook.  Plus if you didn’t eat a whole lot, you can always joke about wanting to save some for later and take it home with you.  Leave the containers in the car and only bring them out if it's appropriate.  Don't walk in with the plates because it can look tacky.

These are just a few easy ways you can preserve your stomach and cut down on the acid indigestion or upset stomach when you get home Thanksgiving night.  Enjoy your Thanksgiving dinner!
