What a week!
Unless my memory has failed me, I recall The Jackson Victory Tour, Van Halen, and Julio Iglesias came to Big D on one incredible night back in the summer of 1984
The Jackson's, with co- promoter Don King, performed at the Cotton Bowl. Van Halen performed at Texas Stadium. Iglesias performed at the Dallas Convention Center.
From that night on, buying tickets from scalpers at a retail outlet became a reality as Scott Baima created Texas Tickets at Park Lane and Central at revolutionized the business and made a fortune.

Curtis Cokes of Dallas won the world welterweight championship in 1966 and made a few title defenses at the aforementioned Convention Center. His championship belt was stolen. WBC President Jose Sulaiman of Mexico City is going to replace the belt very soon.
Boxing executives Steve Crosson and Arlen 'Spider" Bynum, along with former bantamweight Dickie Cole will present the belt to Cokes in a public ceremony to be announced. Curtis is 72!

Farrah Fawcett was a big boxing fan. She and steady Ryan O'Neal were regulars in Las Vegas and Los Angeles for the big fights. O'Neal even managed several fighters. Farrah was born in Corpus Christi and attended UT - Austin. She will be missed.
When Chris John pulled out of his fight with Houston's Rocky Juarez scheduled for Saturday on HBO, Juarez chose not to fight a late replacement and pulled off the card completely.
Juarez may have won the battle but lost the war as he shouldn't look for HBO to call him again. Juarez received a gift draw against John in February and was in line for a big payday Saturday but HBO is now down to its preliminary fight featuring Victor Ortiz in its main event.
Evander Holyfield is in trouble again. His estate outside of Atlanta is about to be foreclosed upon again next week.
Management of WBC Heavyweight Champion Vitaly Klitschko said to tap the breaks on an immediate fight against WBA Champ Nikolai Valuev.
