It may seem like it's way too early to be talking about Christmas shopping. Trust me, if you have a loved one who's an avid gamer, you need to get to the stores to start looking for what's on their Christmas list. It happens every year. Just like there's an “it” toy every Christmas season, there's always an “it” game or gaming console every Christmas season also.
This year is no different. Unlike previous years though, the Xbox 360 should be in high supply. And what's better is that the console is at a new, low price of $199 as compared to $499 in the past – that's what I paid for it three years ago.
Not all the gaming news is good for the Christmas season though. For example, during the past two Christmas seasons it’s been difficult to find the Nintendo Wii - it was the hot-ticket item to buy. We'll see what happens this year as it gets closer and closer to the season of giving. It's definitely still a hot-ticket item, but hopefully there will be more Wii's on the shelves this shopping season.
Now on to the video games to go with those gaming consoles. Guitar Hero: World Tour is at the top of the list for the Christmas scavenger hunt. We'll see if Activision will be able to get enough copies of the game in stores to meet the holiday season as it is already immensely popular and hard-to-find as it is.
Another already hard-to-find video game that will continue to be hard-to-find is the Wii Fit. I myself have been wanting to get this video game and the Wii Fit balance board controller, but it's been a little hard to find. Don't get me wrong, if you want it badly enough it can be found in stores or online. However, with the Christmas season fast approaching it will get even harder and harder to find.
Whatever your kids, significant other, siblings, friends or anyone else wants in the way of video games and video game systems for Christmas, it's definitely time to start your search now.
What are some other games that will be hard-to-find this gift-giving season?
