Rihanna interview helps ABC achieve ratings win

Rihanna on ABC brought in over 8 million viewers.
It's not very often that an episode of "20/20" can claim to be Friday night's winner in the 18-49 demographic, but thanks in part to Rihanna's exclusive interview ABC was able to achieve a 2.7 rating, the highest of the night. In terms of total viewers, the Diane Sawyer interview brought in slightly over 8 million viewers.
The special was notable in that it featured Rihanna talking about her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown's incident of domestic abuse last February. The singer acknowledged during the hour that, as a role model, she could not bear the burden of teaching other young people around the world that it is okay to stay with someone who could be capable of such violence.
During the interview, Chris Brown also had a special on MTV where he again apologized to the pop superstar; however, he has frequently said that he wants details of the assault to be kept private.
