Oprah Winfrey currently has a syndication deal with CBS that runs through mid-2011, but that doesn't mean that the talk show mogul is shying away from thinking about her future. According to Oprah's own production company, Winfrey is still deciding whether she wants to continue on with CBS or take her talk show to the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), which will be launching in 2010.
With such a move there comes a distinct set of advantages and disadvantages. In terms of an audience, there's no doubt that she would pull more people in on a weekly basis if she continued to run on major networks. On the other hand, moving to her own network (which is really a re-branded incarnation of Discovery Health) would undoubtedly give her a greater financial stake in what she produces. Therefore, it really comes down to whether or not Oprah wants more money or a continued sense of relevancy to the everyday American.
What do you think Oprah should do? There are some reports out there saying that Oprah is leaning towards staying at CBS, but nothing is confirmed yet. Let me know your thoughts with a comment below! Oprah is appearing on December's issue of O Magazine with fellow talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.
