"Dancing With the Stars" professional Mark Ballas may not be in the finals this season (as he and Melissa Joan Hart were eliminated several weeks ago), but that doesn't necessarily mean he is staying quiet about what it takes to win. Ballas, who has previously won the competition with Kristi Yamaguchi and Shawn Johnson, told People Magazine that Monday night's finale will largely come down to one thing: the freestyle round: “The freestyle routines will make it or break it for the finalists." All you have to do for evidence of that is look to the past. While an epic freestyle with Cheryl Burke allowed Drew Lachey to win season two of "Dancing," Marie Osmond had one of the most epic disappointments in the show's history with a doll-themed freestyle that was simply uncomfortable to watch.
Surprisingly, Ballas states that the professionals may even be more nervous than some of the celebrities out there: “in some ways the pros have even more pressure than the celebrities because that freestyle choreography has to create a vibe, an excitement in the room. It has to be off the charts."
Dancing tonight to take home the Mirrorball Trophy will be singer Mya, entertainer (and Marie's brother) Donny Osmond, and reality star Kelly Osbourne. The winner will be announced on Tuesday night's two-hour live finale that will also feature appearances from past contestants and a performance by Whitney Houston.
