'Jon and Kate Plus 8:' was Kate Gosselin's commentary a distraction?

"Jon and Kate Plus 8" aired a special on Monday night.
When watching Monday night's "Jon and Kate Plus 8" special, one thing became immediately clear: these moments were all about Kate. Granted, TLC wasn't allowed to talk to the children and Jon didn't want any part of it; however, hearing Kate talk about some of the top moments from her long-running TV show changed the tone drastically away from the fun sort of nostalgia most of us were expecting.
In fact, Kate's presence in the interview room occasionally made the whole episode uncomfortable. For example, hearing about Jon's infamous "pull the stick out" comment came with Kate's suggestion that it was a sign of things to come. A note to Kate: we already know you and Jon are getting a divorce! Is it really necessary for us to hear about it all of the time?
Then again, there was also the strange decision to have the separation announcement be included as one of the "top moments." Who was this a top moment for? Sure, that particular episode of "Jon and Kate Plus 8" brought in over 10 million viewers, but it also took away every dash of hope that the couple would stay together.
There were some nice moments involving the children, and for a few seconds they provided us with a friendly reminder of what the show was like before the tabloid rumors and the public fighting. However, it was just a strange dichotomy to have those narrated by someone who didn't completely see the joy in those moments anymore.
