"Gossip Girl" spent the last week or two advertising a controversial threesome on Monday night's episode, but in reality the scene didn't really offer up much controversy at all. Not only was it tamer than what many other network shows have aired in the past, it only managed to bump up the show's overall audience to 2.3 million. While that is 18% above the week before (according to E!), it still didn't it anywhere near striking distance of any other show on TV.
To put it in perspective, this much-hyped episode had less than half of a viewing audience of an old episode of Nickelodeon's "SpongeBob SquarePants." It was 2 million viewers behind a repeat of "NCIS" on USA and about 1.9 million behind Sean Hannity's talk show on Fox News.
