Ashley Trainer told me that her goal on "Survivor: Samoa" was to be the next Parvati, but it didn't really go according to plan as the 22-year old spa salesperson was the sixth person voted out of the game.
Ashley stressed that as a "huge 'Survivor' fan," she wanted to "really go out there and play the game and not just fly under the radar." Her initial strategy, however, didn't work out; she intended to flirt her was into a few alliances but, according to her, "there were no single guys and I had to change it." Eventually she decided on having "a really strong alliance," and she thought she found the perfect person in Russell Hantz: "Russell was really nice to everyone out there, especially the girls...I really trusted him." Unfortunately, she ended up forming this "bond" with one of the biggest villains in the history of the show. Upon witnessing Russell deliberately sabotaging his own tribe, Ashley had one response: "who does that?"
In terms of other alliances, she did say she had a tight bond with Natalie ("a lifelong friend") but not as much with anyone else. She said that Mick "didn't want to put a target on his back," and was therefore not a leader on par with Galu's Russell Swan.
So what was Ashley's greatest undoing? As it turns out, it was Liz dominating the immunity challenge: "my alliance had a pecking order...and I didn't trust Liz." While she was sad to leave the game, she wasn't entirely shocked since she was beginning to notice something was off about Russell behavior: "If you go against Russell, he'll vote you out. Maybe he thought I was starting to play the game too much." The two of them apparently had an alliance "like Rob & Amber (from 'Survivor: All-Stars'), where we would make separate alliances and then report back to each other." Ashley just didn't realize that Russell's primary allegiance was to Natalie instead of her. Presumably to get rid of the weaker player, she was voted out of the game.
As for who Ashley wants to see win, she signed out Shambo, Natalie, and Jaison. She especially was fond of Shambo, who she referred to as "a breath of fresh air."
